Guinean President Alpha Conde and opposition leaders are committed to continuing with the spirit of "social dialogue" and holding periodic consultations to resolve the political crisis in the West African country since the presidential election in November 2010.
The commitment is a result of a meeting held on Tuesday between Conde and the main opposition leaders headed by Cellou Dalein Diallo of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG) and Sidya Toure of Union of Republican Forces (UFR).
The spokesman of the opposition, Jean Marie Dore of the Union for Guinea's Progress (UPG), expressed "satisfaction" of the entire Guinean opposition.
He said the country's president expressed his willingness to hold frequent talks with all Guinean political actors in order to resolve the various challenges that the country is confronted with.
"The president told us that on all problems that are facing the Guinean nation, institutional or economic, he will always consult with us," Marie Dore said.
The spokesman for the Guinean opposition said Conde had formed a commission headed by his minister for territorial administration to discuss with the opposition groups about how to prepare for the legislative elections due to take place this year.
Diallo told the press that President Conde had expressed a new hope to cooperate, asking his "colleagues" in the opposition to ensure the success of the president's desires.
"We are all in agreement and we think that from now on, decisions will be taken after consultation with the opposition," Cellou Dalein said.
