Ouattara vows to reconcile Cote d'Ivoire people amid regional trip
Cote d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara on Tuesday vowed to continue efforts to bring national reconciliation to the West African country.
Ouattara, who was speaking at Abidjan airport after returning from a foreign trip, affirmed that the ongoing reconstruction program will restore normality in the country.
"After the crisis that we had, we should do everything possible to bring about lasting peace in our country," the president said.
"We are on the right path," he said, asking the Cote d'Ivoire people to turn a new page.
Reconciliation has been presented as one of the major priorities for the new Cote d'Ivoire authorities after the post- election violence between late 2010 and early 2011.
Ouattara was coming back from a 48-hour official visit to Togo and Benin.
On Thursday, Ouattara is expected to head to Niger and then to Burkina Faso, where "a high level meeting" will be held between the presidents of the two countries.
These visits are being made under the framework of an African tour whose objective is to revive cooperation between Cote d'Ivoire and its foreign partners.
