Somali rebel militants attack Kenya-Israel pack

Somali rebel militants attack Kenya-Israel pack
Somali militants on Tuesday attacked a recent deal signed between Kenya and Israel to fight together the rebel militants Al-Shabaab in the war-torn country as "of no use".

Speaking to reporters in the small town of Afyooge, 30 km southwest of the capital Mogadishu, spokesman for the Al-Shabaab said that Kenyan was seeking help from Israel to destroy Muslims and their religion.

Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga this week visited Israel and signed agreements that would see both countries cooperating in the fight against the Somali militant group of Al-Shabaab.

The Al-Shabaab spokesman reiterated his group's threats of attacks against Kenya but added that there was time for Kenya to withdraw its troops from Somalia's southern provinces where forces from Somali and Kenyan governments are carrying out joint military operation against the group.

Al-Shabaab repeated their denial that missiles were fired at the southern town of Afgooye and other areas close to Mogadishu on Monday. Afgooye is one of ten other towns in southern Somalia under Islamist control that were threatened with airstrikes by Kenyan military.

The rebel group claimed to have inflicted heavy losses against Kenyan and Somali military since the two countries' joint operation against the Al-Shabaab in the south of the country.
